Basil Peacey

Basil William Peacey (1889–1969) was the 4th Bishop of Lebombo[1] from 1929 until 1935[2]. He was educated at Christ’s Hospital and Leeds University[3] and, after a period of study at the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield, was ordained in 1937. His first post was as a Curate in Hull after which he emigrated to South Africa to be Priest-Vicar of Grahamstown Cathedral then Priest in charge of Pessene in Maputoland and finally (before his elevation to the Episcopate[4]) Principal of St Christopher’s College Hlamankulu. After this he was Rector of Krugersdorp[5] and then Constantia before retirement in 1954.
